In our school, there have been other projects about protection our historical and cultural heritage and these projects have inspired us.

In the first term of 2007-2008 academic year, with the participation of six graders from four different schools, we held a workshop called “Istanbul:Dün, Bugün ve Yarın” and eight graders dramatized “Uygarlığın Beşiğinde Gezginler”. Also, Hayri Fehmi Yılmaz, an art historian, attended as a speaker about Istanbul.

On the day of this event, those who have attended this workshop worked on the problems of Istanbul historical peninsula and decided on our responsibilities. We have revised these decisions and we have realized that we can’t be just an onlooker. We have started studying and when we heard about the competition, we have decided to participate in with our project.

We have consulted to our teachers on what kind of monument we can restore. By this way, we have understood that fountains are the most appropriate monuments to get permission for restoration and expenses.
