From April 3rd-7th the Terakki Levent Campus Debate Society was in Copenhagen to attend the annual Nordic Schools Debate Championship, which was attended by 59 teams from all over Europe.
Our team once again demonstrated their abilities with wins over multiple international teams. 13 of our 20 team members were able to score 70 or more in individual matches, thus demonstrating the quality and excellence of our delegation in the international arena.
Terakki Levent Campus Debate Club President Egem İzcimen (10F) managed an outstanding 5 70+ scores while Vice President Elif Naz Akbolat (10B ) was able to achieve an incredible 4. Rüzgar Morva (10G) and Zeynep Boyacioğlu (9H) achieved three such high scores each. Deren Turan (9F) and Irmak Ateş (10G) also impressed with 70+ averages across the competition. For context, the number 1 debater out of 200 averaged approximately 72.5.
Other students who managed to score 70 or more were: Ali Ertuğru Yazıcıoğlu (10I), former president Alya Konca (11C), Yiğit Alkan (10F), Batu Dark (11B ), Derin Ilgın Gürer (10I), Nisan Güllü (9G), and Talya Genç (10I). We congratulate our delegation on continuing to represent Terakki at the highest possible level and on their amazing achievements.
The championship also included a cultural night where our students socialised with other debaters from across Europe.
