Our Graduate Alperen Güman’s Achievement at NYU in the US

Alperen Güman, who graduated from our primary school in 2007 made his first cartoon film titled Three Piglets and explained how what he learned at Terakki regarding cartoon films contributed to his higher education at the New York University Tisch School of the Arts. “The Girl from the Wilderness” is his last film made at the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.

“I recalled that at Terakki I watched Miyazaki’s film for the first time in my life when I had a lesson at NYU on the esteemed Japanese director and animator Hayao Miyazaki. I can easily say that I took my first step at a cartoon class at Terakki when I looked back years later and understood what a wide vision my school Terakki had. Terakki is not a data bank that prepares the students to tests only and tries to put the students in the same shape. I could become aware of this fact clearly in my own journey. I am still proud of being able to say that “I made my first film at primary school” with the help of my school and I still feel gratitude for this opportunity. I hope Terakki would be a source of inspiration for more lives.”
